Morning Routine for Postpartum Mothers That Will Boost Your Mood
Every day looks different when you’re a parent. Having children means managing a never-ending to-do list, and each night can vary just as much. Sometimes you’re lucky enough to get restful sleep, and other times it’s interrupted or non-existent. Here are a few simple ways to help you feel a bit better and restore some sense of normalcy:
Start your morning with a routine. This can set a positive tone for the day ahead. Even though no two days are the same and sometimes it might feel like Groundhog Day. Doing small things like brushing your teeth, washing your face, and putting on fresh clothes can genuinely lift your mood. If you can, take a shower. It might feel like a challenge with a newborn (or any kids), but it’s a small act of self-care that makes a big difference.
Fuel yourself with a nutritious breakfast. Whether you’re breastfeeding or not, your postpartum body is healing and needs nourishment to recover. Make breakfast whatever you enjoy! This isn’t about “bouncing back,” it’s about honouring the incredible work your body has done.
Engage in a weekly activity that brings you joy. Whether it’s trying out a new baking recipe, getting your nails done or indulging in a favourite treat (for me, it’s a block of halloumi and a few packets of Tim Tams), carving out time for yourself is essential. These small moments help recharge you.
Stretch and Move. Gentle movement supports your recovery by improving blood flow and circulation. It doesn’t require much, just a few minutes a day can make a difference. Plus, it can boost your mood and overall well-being.
