How to Enjoy Some Self-Care

Where to begin? The idea of postpartum self-care can feel completely overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be complicated. At its core, self-care is about being gentle with yourself and releasing the pressure to have everything perfectly figured out, because motherhood rarely looks like what we imagine.

One key to embracing self-care is learning to accept help. Yes, accepting support is important, and you shouldn’t feel guilty about it. Many of us hesitate at first, myself included, but welcoming assistance can make your postpartum journey much smoother.

On the other hand, if you find yourself overwhelmed by visits or calls from family and friends, it’s okay to set boundaries. While this can feel challenging, communicating your needs honestly will often lead to understanding and respect.
